Artist’s Statement
I am especially intrigued by nature’s organic shapes and rhythms and also in how man-made objects relate to nature. Art is as much the process of creation as it is the object of creation…each work starts the wheels turning to explore something else. My main concentration is in watercolor, acrylics and ceramics, but because of my art education background, I have dabbled in a wide range of art media such as metal sculpture, jewelry, printmaking, fabric arts and oils.
Biography
I earned a BFA in Art Education at Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas and later earned a degree in Graphic Design from Amarillo College. I have been an elementary art consultant to the Salina, Kansas Public schools and taught middle school art in Herington, Kansas. After moving to Amarillo, TX, I served as staff artist for the Texas Panhandle Library System, followed by a career as a graphic designer for Amarillo College. I now work from my studio at Arts in the Sunset in Amarillo, Texas. My work has been displayed in museums and galleries around the country and also in many private collections.
I hope you’ll enjoy my art!
